If you are considering a buttock augmentation, you will need to choose between two main procedure methods: butt augmentation with implants, and butt augmentation with fat grafting. Buttock implants are made with solid silicone, and are usually inserted under the muscle in the buttocks. This is not our preferred method in most cases, since implants require a much longer healing period, and patients usually experience prolonged pain. Additionally, your body may end up rejecting the implant or displacing it. Furthermore there is a higher incidence of complications with implants including infection. Finally implants never feel natural.
In contrast, buttock augmentation with fat injection has several advantages, including:
- More natural look and feel
- No chance of rejection
- Smaller incisions, therefore less scarring
- Reduced healing time
- Donor areas can be body sculpted
- Lower chance of infection
- Fat can customize the areas for augmentation
For all of these reasons and more, buttock augmentation with fat injection is the method we recommend in most cases. However, you should know that around 30% of patients will need a second grafting procedure to achieve the best results.
