Have you caught yourself staring into the mirror lately, wondering why you all of the sudden look older than you feel? You realize that your eyes look more tired or angry than they used to, but you're not sure why. It's very possible that your upper and lower eyelids have experienced changes and are the reason your eyes looking different.
As we age, our eyelids may become more puffy or saggy, giving the eyes an aged and tired look. There can also be skin and fat that accumulates or displaces itself, creating dark circles under the eyes.
The good news is that our Manhattan plastic surgeon, Dr. George Lefkovits, can perform eyelid surgery to restore the youthful, happy, and healthy look that your eyes once had.
During eyelid surgery (also known as blepharoplasty), Dr. Lefkovits will remove excess skin and fat from the appropriate places on your eyelids. If needed, fat from the eyelids can also be moved in order to fill in hollows under the eyes.
The procedure is performed using local anesthesia and intravenous sedation in our in-house surgical center. You will need to plan a few days at home to recuperate from the procedure and to return to our center within 4-5 days for the stitches to be removed.
