Botox® Injections

Buttock and Breast Augmentation (NYC), Park Plaza Plastic Surgery New York (NY)

Botox injections are very popular among the patients of New York City Plastic Surgeon, George Lefkovits for the treatment of certain facial wrinkles including:

  • Frown lines
  • Forehead creases
  • "Crow's feet"

The cosmetic form of botulinum toxin, often referred to by its product name Botox®, is a popular non-surgical injection that temporarily reduces or eliminates facial lines near your eyes, mouth and on your forehead. Botox® has been known to also reduce thick bands in the neck.

Botox Advantages

  • Botox is a non-surgical treatment for wrinkles
  • The treatment is via injections using a very fine needle
  • They are relatively painless
  • The effect is dramatic
  • The effect is reversible
  • There is no anesthesia required

After your Botox® injections, you can return to work immediately. It is important not to lie down for at least four hours after the injections. Also, it is suggested that you try to contract the affected muscles as often as possible for the first few hours as this will increase the uptake of the toxin by the muscles and will maximize its effect.

The results of a Botox® injection are usually noticed within 3 to 10 days. They tend to last in most people for up to 3 or 4 months. As time passes, the muscle activity will gradually return to normal. This injection tends to last well into the third or fourth month, as opposed to many other temporary cosmetic procedures.

Results can vary, but it is important to go to a physician who is experienced at this procedure. Dr. Lefkovits performs the procedure daily in his Manhattan, New York cosmetic surgery office.

Side Effects

It is natural to assume there is some danger with Botox® injections, since the product is derived from a toxin, but it is very safe and has been around for years. Some patients have been known to experience side effects from the injection including:

  • Bruising at the injection site
  • Headache
  • Respiratory infection
  • Temporary eyelid droop (less than 1% reported)
  • Nausea
  • Flu-like illness

The potential risks are minor with this procedure. If you are allergic to eggs, it is very important not to use this material, as it is prepared with an albumin base.
