Have you begun to notice that your face does not look as young as it used to? Does your morning makeup routine take longer and longer to try to hide all the fine lines and wrinkles, or have you given up entirely? Have you begun to notice that people are responding to you as if you were old? If any of these are true, you may be considering facial rejuvenation to try to reduce the aged appearance of your face.
There are many different facial rejuvenation treatment options. Although this page runs down some of the procedures and what they can address, the best way to find out which procedure is right for you is with a personal consultation with New York plastic surgeon Dr. George Lefkovits. Please schedule a consultation today to get personalized recommendations for your facial rejuvenation procedure.
Rejuvenation of the Eye Area
Your eyes are often the first place to show your age, or, worse, make you look older than your age. There are many facial rejuvenation options to help improve the aged appearance of your eye area. For hanging or puffy eyelids, blepharoplasty is a good procedure. Hollows under the eyes can typically be addressed as part of a blepharoplasty procedure or separately using injectable fillers. Crows' feet respond well to BOTOX® Cosmetic injections. Hanging brows can be improved with the use of a brow lift, a type of facelift that targets the forehead.
Rejuvenation of the Mouth and Lower Face
The lower face can also contribute significantly to aging. Gravity and changes in your skin, connective tissue, and muscles can lead to the sagging of much of your face. At first, this may only create nasolabial folds, also called smile lines or parentheses lines, but may later lead to excess, hanging skin and fat, jowls, "turkey neck," and more. Facial folds like parentheses lines can be lessened using injectable fillers like Juvéderm. For some of the more extensive effects of sagging tissue, a facelift is recommended.
In addition, many women complain about the appearance of their mouth as they age. Women are particularly prone to thin wrinkles around the mouth, sometimes called "lipstick lines," which respond well to BOTOX® Cosmetic injections. Many women may also notice a thinning in the lips which makes them look older or more masculine. Lip augmentation with injectable fillers can give a woman plumper, more youthful-looking lips.
Rejuvenation of the Skin
Our skin changes as we age, changes that become visible as dull, thin skin covered in numerous fine wrinkles. To combat these changes requires treatments that nourish the skin or stimulate its natural rejuvenative properties. A glycolic acid peel uses natural fruit acids to gently remove some of the dead outer layers of skin, leaving a more refreshed appearance while also giving your skin vital nutrients for continued health. For more pronounced aging effects on the skin, laser skin resurfacing can remove more damaged skin and stimulate deeper rejuvenation which can significantly reduce fine lines and wrinkles on your face.
