Powder Brows
(Ombre Powder Brows)

Powder brows (also known as ombre brows or ombre powder brows) are a semi-permanent eyebrow styling technique that closely mimics the appearance of conventional brow makeup.
Beautiful eyebrows that last up to 3 years and fit perfectly to the shape of your face are no longer a myth!
Ombre powder brows are a great semi-permanent makeup technique if you want to achieve the natural look of your eyebrows.
Powder brows create:
a softly shaded brow pencil look,
more “filled-in” look,
results that appear like softly shaded eyebrow pencil or powder.
Benefits Of the Ombre Powder Brows
whether your skin type is oily skin, dry skin, or a combination skin type, this treatment is great for any skin type
it gives a great natural makeup look to your eyebrows
eyebrows are fuller, symmetrical, and they follow the shape of your face, skin, and hair tone
brows last longer than microblading
it is a less painful procedure compared to microblading
Ideal Candidates For Powder Brows
This cosmetic semi-permanent makeup procedure is great for any skin type, but it is especially suitable for:
women with oily skin type (the pigment lasts longer, therefore it won’t fade as quickly as when you do microblading)
women with a combination skin type
those who fill in their brows daily with makeup (shadow or pencil)
athletes and those who play sports or like to be active
those who desire to fill in sparse eyebrows (eyebrow hair thinning)
How Are Powder Brows Done?
The initial step is to determine the perfect shape of your eyebrows. Our eyebrow artist will then outline a new shape of your eyebrows. Attention is paid specifically to symmetry and creating eyebrows that fit perfectly the shape of your face.
After this, it is finally time to place pigment. When choosing a pigment, it is important to take into consideration your skin tone, the color of your hair as well as your personal preferences.
Unlike eyebrow tattooing or microblading which are done in the dermis (the second – deeper layer of the skin), powder brows at our plastic surgery center in New York are done in the epidermis (the top layer of the skin).
A special machine is used to place pigment into the top layers of the skin, thus creating a soft and natural result without irritating the skin. The combination of dots and shading produces a 3D illusion with a subtle, natural-looking effect.
Powder Brows Healing Process
Swelling of the brow area, soreness, and subtle redness are common on the day of the powder brows treatment.
Furthermore, your eyebrows are going to be around 50% darker, but do not worry – during the complete healing process, they eventually will fade and start getting their color.
If you feel that the skin around the eyebrows is itchy or dry in the first week after the treatment, this is a common side effect. If this feeling continues, we will provide you with a balm to help reduce itchiness and dryness.
Dos and Don’ts After Ombre Powder Brows Treatment
Aftercare is important! It will take up to 2-3 weeks for your eyebrows to heal, and during that time you should pay attention to certain dos and don’ts if you want to achieve full results out of this treatment:
do not pick or touch eyebrows as it could harm the color and improve the chance of infection.
do not apply makeup
try not to sleep directly on your face
avoid exercise, sweating and
do not go to saunas, steam rooms, or in the water (pools, etc…)
pay attention to sun exposure
refrain from other kinds of facial treatments during the powder brows healing process
These things, on the other hand, could help your healing process:
let the dry skin around the eyebrows drop out by itself
maintain the eyebrow area as sanitary as possible
cover your eyebrows from dust and dirt

Frequently Asked Questions About Powder Brows
Do I need to prepare somehow for powder brows treatment?
Yes, before your powder appointment you will take an allergic test to the products we use during powdered brows treatment to make sure it is safe for you.
At least one day before the treatment do not take alcohol, caffeine, aspirin (or other forms of medication that are known to “thin the blood”). Check with your chosen doctor before eliminating any medication from your daily routine.
Two weeks prior to your powder brows appointment do not pluck or wax your brows.
Why is this treatment called “ombre” brows?
The ombre in “ombre powder brows” stands for the fact that the tail of the eyebrows is always darker than the head.
When will my eyebrows fully recover?
It takes approximately 7-14 days for the brows to heal over, and about one month for the color to fully set in.
The brows shrink in size by about 20% and fade in color by about 30-40%.
Is the powder brow technique time-consuming?
We believe this technique does not require a lot of your time, as the entire process takes about 2 hours.
Are powder brows painful?
Ombre powder brows are known to be one of the least invasive semi-permanent forms of makeup. Compared to microblading it is more comfortable and less painful.
Is powdered brows a permanent makeup technique?
No, this is a semi-permanent makeup technique, as it requires touch-ups approximately every 3 years.
How long does this brow technique last?
This brow technique lasts up to 3 years.
This can depend on various factors:
skin and daily routines,
skin characteristics,
health and whether you are taking certain medications,
sun exposure,
pH balance of the skin,
alcohol intake and smoking.
A touch-up is recommended a month after the first procedure. It is usually scheduled after the healing period, and during your second appointment, our artist aims to repair eyebrows after the scabs that appeared and have fallen off during ombre brows healing time.
