The use of PRP has added a new dimension to facial rejuvenation.

PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma. Platelets provide essential growth factors that are involved in cell stem migration, differentiation and proliferation. They stimulate the deposition of new collagen as well as increasing circulation through new blood vessel formation.

Plasma contains many essential ingredients including nutrients, vitamins, hormones, electrolytes and proteins.

The procedure involves applying a topical anesthetic cream for about 30 minutes prior to the procedure. A blood sample is taken from the patient which is then centrifuged to allow for the separation of platelet rich plasma from the rest of the blood. The aesthetician then begins micro-needling along with the application of PRP which is squirted through a syringe.

This process is repeated throughout the face. The face will appear reddish for several hours but most patients can return to work the following day while applying make-up. The face feels smoother and exudes a glow. The procedure should be repeated on a monthly basis for 2-3 months.
