About Breast Reduction Surgery Without Insurance
Breast reduction surgery, or reduction mammoplasty, is a procedure that removes excess breast tissue and fat to reduce their size and volume. This procedure can help you achieve smaller, more proportionate, and shapely breasts that suit the natural structure of your silhouette, and it is ideal for those interested in attaining a more athletic figure. It is also ideal for women who struggle with discomfort due to the size of their breasts.
While many women choose to undergo breast reductions using their insurance, many others choose to pay out-of-pocket, or without insurance. This means that they are responsible for the full cost of their procedure and must pay either in cash, card, third-party financing, or another method. Many procedures that patients pay out-of-pocket for are not medically necessary, meaning that insurance is less likely to cover them. However, this does not change the way that surgeons perform them or the results they offer.
Breast Reduction Benefits
There are several benefits to receiving a breast reduction, including:
- Improved Aesthetics: A breast reduction can improve the size, shape, and symmetry of the breasts and restore the overall harmony and proportionality of your figure.
- Alleviated Discomfort: Reducing the weight of your breasts can reduce chronic neck, back, or shoulder pain, as well as any postural concerns.
- Tailored Solutions: Dr. Lefkovits customizes each treatment plan according to the existing anatomy and goals of his patient.
- Lasting Results: The results of a breast reduction are long-lasting and create long-term comfort and confidence.
Candidates
You may be a candidate for breast reduction surgery without insurance if you are interested in reducing the size and shape of your breasts for aesthetic reasons. This includes refining them to elevate your silhouette, physical harmony, and overall proportionality. You should also be in good general health and hold realistic expectations regarding your results. It is also important that you are nonsmoking or willing to abstain from nicotine for an extensive amount of time.
Personal Consultation
Your personal consultation is fundamental for tailoring your procedure. During this meeting, Dr. Lefkovits will review your medical history, listen to your concerns, and learn more about your desired results. He will also perform a physical evaluation to assess your chest anatomy, tissue health, and skin quality.
These details will finalize your candidacy and form your individualized treatment plan. Dr. Lefkovits will determine which surgical techniques to use, how much breast tissue to remove, and where he will remove it from. He will also answer any questions you have. By the end of this meeting, you will not only have a full understanding of what to expect, but also a customized solution for each of your needs.
If you are ready to schedule this meeting and take the first step towards your new figure, please contact us online or call (212) 750-9494.
Preparation
Once you have scheduled your procedure, Dr. Lefkovits and his team will meet with you and provide you with detailed preparation instructions. We ask that you follow them to ensure a smooth procedure and recovery process. These include:
- Discontinuing the use of medications and supplements that contain blood-thinning properties
- Coordinating transportation home from your procedure
- Preparing assistance around your home for the first 24-48 hours of your recovery
- Arranging time away from your career and personal commitments
- Creating a comfortable recovery environment at home
- Ceasing the consumption of nicotine and alcohol in the weeks leading up to your procedure
Procedure
On the day of your procedure, Dr Lefkovits will make guiding marks on your breasts, which will take into account your chest height, width, and nipple position. This will allow him to create the design pattern that he will use in performing the surgery. You will meet the anesthesiologist, who will take medical history, and soon start an IV. You will then be introduced to the members of the surgical team. You will then be placed on the operating table where you will have monitors applied and begin to get sedated. This will be followed by the induction of general anesthesia, and you will then be prepped with an antiseptic and be draped with sterile drapes. Dr. Lefkovits will then perform the procedure. He generally uses an inverted-T pattern, which is created by the pre-op markings. This involves an incision around the areola as well as a vertical and horizontal incision which is hidden in the breast crease.
Once Dr. Lefkovits has accessed the underlying structures of the breasts, he will begin to remove excess soft tissues and fat. He will reshape the breast mound, and if needed, reshape and reposition the areolas to a more proportionate and central location.
Once he has finished performing each of your desired corrections, he will close the incisions with sutures.
Recovery
Dr. Lefkovits performs breast reduction surgery on an outpatient basis, which means that you will be released on the same day that you receive your corrections. He and his team will provide you with detailed postoperative instructions to guide you through each phase of your recovery, including caring for your incision, mitigating side effects, and returning to your routine. Throughout this time, Dr. Lefkovits will also schedule follow-up visits to monitor your healing progress.
If any questions arise during this time, we invite you to contact us so that our team can provide you with the necessary information and support.
Results
You will be able to enjoy immediate results after your breast reduction surgery, but breast appearance will continue to refine with time as swelling dissipates. You will be able to enjoy smaller, more proportionate breasts that contribute to a more proportionate figure. You will also notice benefits such as reduced discomfort, improved posture, and ease of movement.
The results of Dr. Lefkovits’s breast reduction surgery are long-lasting, with effects that you can enjoy for several years to come. However, you will need to maintain a stable weight and healthy lifestyle to preserve them.
Corresponding Procedures
Dr. Lefkovits can combine your procedure with several others to provide more cohesive results. These may include liposuction and a tummy tuck, but our team can provide you with more personalized recommendations during your consultation.
Liposuction
Liposuction is a body contouring procedure that uses a suctioning cannula to eliminate stubborn fat from around the body. Dr. Lefkovits can perform this procedure to highlight and accentuate the contours and curves of your figure, leaving you with a sculpt that you can enjoy for several years on end.
Tummy Tuck
A tummy tuck is often combined with a breast reduction as part of a mommy makeover. This procedure removes excess skin and fat from the tummy and usually tightens the abdominal muscles (abs) to recreate a flat abdomen.

FAQ
What is the difference between paying for a procedure without insurance and paying with insurance?
Paying for a procedure without insurance means that you are responsible for paying the full price of the procedure. On the other hand, using insurance to pay means that a healthcare company is covering a portion or the full cost of your procedure. Insurance companies will do this for procedures when they deem them medically necessary.
How much breast tissue will Dr. Lefkovits remove during my procedure?
The exact amount of breast tissue he removes will vary depending on your natural anatomy and desired results. He can discuss this with you in detail during your consultation, once he has performed a physical examination.
When can I return to work after my breast reduction?
You can return to work after resting for approximately one to two weeks, but you should avoid any strenuous tasks until Dr. Lefkovits clears you to return.
How will I know which incision placement is right for me?
During your personal consultation, Dr. Lefkovits will review your medical history, discuss your goals, and perform a physical examination of your breasts. Using this information, he will determine the best course of action for your needs.
How long will the results of my breast reduction last?
When you maintain the results with a stable weight and healthy lifestyle, they will last for many years.
